Lesson

Due to some sort of human error in attempt to be organized, all of my photos prior to October 2008 have been wiped out.

I am now trying to sort through files here and there to recover a handful of photos lying around in folders.

Most importantly I will be setting aside some time this weekend to upload all photos to an online database to prevent this from happening again.

Yes, I am crying and probably won't be able to sleep tonight.

Got Him

My garden shot this morning has got me smiling. I am finally able to get a shot of the dragonflies! But I want to get even closer!

I have a lot to learn before even thinking about getting another lens!

Just some random practice shots from Saturday and Sunday...

Walking up the levee Saturday evening to hit some golf balls on the batture. I love the quick response and the lens has pretty good zoom to it. It also takes photos in "burst" mode...rapid succession of 3 frames per second. Yeah, wow!

I was never able to get a good one with my old camera because it had too much other stuff around to really just focus on the flowers.

My succulent blossoms....



In auto focus mode I can get it to focus on what's in the foreground or the background.

The lens lets me zoom in far enough that I can stay far enough away from the birdies.

I am enjoying getting a feel for the camera and look forward to taking it everywhere! Remember, everyone is subject to appearing on the blog! Beware: I'll have my camera in hand.

The New "Rig"

So, I feel kinda funny calling my new camera a "rig" as I haven't yet ventured out of point and shoot mode. But the camera, and the lens, are rather fancy.

We went to "look" on Saturday morning and well... you know how looking goes.

So blog posting has been limited this weekend, because I am tinkering. I need to get a digital photography book as well as take a class to get started on my new hobby.

He hung 'em up

Charlie pulled out the cord (and fishing line) to hang my flower photos. As usual, my idea always seems better than the actual execution. They don't fill the spot just as I had planned, but overall I am pleased. I like that I took them. And that they are in my garden.
