The Robins

I finally brought out my camera.  It's been a long time!  I need to get back in the habit of carrying it around.  I may need a new lens!

Baseball season is kind of a mess here because it rains so much in the spring and games get cancelled every weekend.  The few that we've had are so cute and do make up for the rain, but I have asked Charlie to remind me to not do this again next year.  ($350 per boy is steep when half the games are rain outs!)

Both boys played in the kindergarten league this year.  It was a good compromise so we didn't have to be on opposite ends of Central Park all day on Saturdays.

Freddie has enjoyed being the "big kid" and Hans fits right in physically with the kindergarten crowd.

And they've both learned a lot of baseball!

Not the boys are pretty good at batting as well, managing to get hits each now that the coaches are pitching instead of using the tee.

Playing has definitely helped them understand the game and allows us to actually watch a baseball game and talk about what's happening.

Freddie would play first base every time if the coach would let him.  He got fired up about making a couple plays and actually getting kids out....a pretty rare occurrence in little league!

And Hans likes to play shirt stop...or "be in the middle" as he calls it.  I'm just glad both of them figure out a way to be in the action rather than hanging back in the outfield.

Summertime means Baseball!  And we have two teams to root for in NYC.  The Mets games are an easy train ride away.

And Citified is a great place for kids.

Getting recruited by the Marines

We spent Memorial Day at Citifield with some friends.

The boys now an follow a game and easily last all 9 innings!  Yay!

A fantastic way to spend a summer afternoon!   (If only the beers weren't $10 a pop!  That's as much as I paid for tickets.)

Baseball!

I will never get tired of going to Central Park for Little League, especially when it is a perfect NYC Spring day.

We finally had one of those this week.  Everyone was happy. especially Hans.

He's quite difficult to get Hans out and into the world on a weekend morning.  There was a lot of "I hate baseball" but then once we are there the kid has a grin the entire time.  This time he even said "I really like baseball."  

Freddie is excited about baseball as well.  He has realized that the first baseman gets all the action and he requested to be on first base more than one inning this week.  It does help him pay attention more when he is in the outfield.  

Not sure if we have two baseball enthusiasts just yet, but for now we're all having fun.
