Dentist

My shy guy wasn't upset but still only communicated with "thumbs up"

Both boys got a check up, a cleaning, and a fluoride treatment along with good reports.

We saw a new dentist this time since our previous dentist moved, and this dentist noted Freddie's upper lip tie as being on the long side.  If it was indeed too long, it would be obvious when his permanent upper teeth come in because there'd be a space that will only be able to be corrected by clipping the tie.  I suppose we'll see soon enough since he keeps wiggling these baby teeth!  

Aside from their healthy teeth she also commented on their long eyelashes and sun bleached hair.

Dentist

No cavities for anyone!  Both boys are doing a good job brushing.  Freddie's go two new molars coming out, permanent teeth.  Eek.  He was excited to show her his two wiggly teeth!

H-man was SO EXCITED to jump in the chair after Freddie.  It was so cute how he grinned ear to ear the entire time.  He answered all of Dr. M's questions, although in a whisper.

Next appointment in March, and Freddie will get his first set of x-rays and Hans will get his first fluoride treatment.

Dental Visit

Sorry to interrupt the lake scene, but must keep up with my records!

The boys both received glowing reports from the dentist.  I continue to be proud of how well they do at the dentist, sitting still for an entire cleaning.  They also sit still all on their own in the waiting room while I have my appointment.  My ears are on high alert listening for any screaming or crashing, but thankfully we're yet to have any of that!

My report wasn't as good as I have a cracked molar which will eventually need a crown.  I'm waiting to make sure Charlie doesn't have any imperative dental needs which will max out our insurance this year or next before scheduling it.  Hoping Charlie's recent habits of racking up dental bills are a thing of the past!

Visit to the Dentist

For the dental records:  Both boys had cleanings today.  Even Hansie.  He was Agreeable.  He was Obedient.  He was Pleasant.  Whew.  No cavities.  Both boys have deep "grooves" in their teeth which means they are a little more difficult to keep clean but so far they're (we're) doing a great job.

Freddie had his first fluoride treatment.  She "painted" it on to his teeth.  She suggested next visit he try the trays, but I'm doubtful his sensitive gag reflect can handle those trays.

Both boys sat in the waiting room while I had my teeth cleaned.  Freddie has sat int he room with me a few times and Hans has sat and watched once or twice as well, but this time the receptionist invited them to sit out in the waiting area.  I thought I'd hear them climbing on the water cooler, but the receptionist said they were gentlemen.

Next appointments in August.

Hans Goes to the Dentist

Hansie went to the dentist.  We've been talking it up and he's been opening his mouth wide and talking about being brave.  He watched Freddie get his teeth cleaned first and then happily donned the shades and climbed into the seat.

He then turned to me and said "Be brave, hold hand" so I stood next to him and held his hand while the dentist poked around in his mouth.  She showed him all of her tools, but she only scarped a little here and there.  She said she'll try to do a full cleaning next visit, although I am pretty certain he would have been fine with it this time.  Watching Freddie do something first generally means Hans is going to do it as well, no matter what.

She said his teeth look great, crowded but great, and to continue the current dental hygiene routine.  We'll all go back in 6 months.

Freddie's visit:  Glowing report.  Seal placed last time is still intact.  His teeth didn't have any tartar or build up at all. 

For the Dental Records

Freddie had his lower right, rear molar sealed.

The dentist at the previous appointment mentioned watching it for signs of decay.  At this visit the dentist said the tooth didn't need to be scraped or drilled but because of the deep "grooves" in his teeth (genetic) and the location of the tooth it made it difficult to keep clean, as well as for her to see exactly what was going on.  So I agreed to go ahead and have the tooth sealed.  Freddie did really well with his cleaning and through the process of having the tooth sealed.  He seems to like going to the dentist even though his mouth is unable to chat.

Charlie also visited the dentist.  He wished he was just there for a tooth to be sealed.  He had a root canal and will return for a shiny new crown.

One other note:  When Hans heard Freddie was getting to pick two "treats" from the treasure box for being brave, Hans immediately ran over.  When Freddie offered to share, Hans screamed "No! TREAT! "  And then..."treat, treat, treat" endlessly.  He'll learn soon enough the dentist doesn't hand out those kinds of (sugary) treats.
