Camel Ride

We have now officially done and seen all that the Bronx Zoo has to offer.  Camel Ride has been scratched off the list

I am not sure how we've managed to go this long without riding a camel, but it happened.  Now that the camel ride has been demystified, I am hopeful we can stick to carousel and monorail rides.

The other swimmer

Guess who else is taking swim lessons??

He is the star of the class.  The teacher scoops him out of my arms and uses him for all the demonstrations.  He performs each skill for the class to follow.  This makes me chuckle, because if he had any time to think about it he would definitely resist being the leader with a group of strangers.

Just like his brother he's a fan of the gear.  He's rather fearless and jumps in and goes under without issue.  Hopefully we can brave to cold water temperature of the lake and maintain his skills.

He's been creating with other people in mind.  It's nice to see him think of others and it's really nice to have some of his artwork leave the house without sneaking it into the recycle after he's asleep.

Hans Goes to the Movies

My baby went to see his first movie in the theater.  He's been before, but was too small for it to really be considered an event he'd enjoy, after all he couldn't yet indulge in popcorn.

He picked out his snacks, yogurt covered raisins and M&Ms, to go with his Sprite and popcorn and he snuggled in for Monsters University.

Both boys used booster seats which were a big help.  No one needed to sit on my lap to see.

His snacks lasted the entire 2 hours, so he did just fine.  I had figured that'd be the case.

Excited to have another activity to enjoy with both boys.  We'll definitely be seeing more summer flicks.

Mama Needs a New Pair of Shoes

I wore high heels for the first time in almost 5 years.  Yep, FIVE years.  

The last time I can remember wearing heels was when I was pregnant with Freddie.  Opportunities to wear heels were slim after Freddie's birth, and NOLA is such a casual city I could always get away with just wearing a pair of snazzy sandals.  Opportunities to wear heels since we've moved have been nonexistent.  Hey, what can I say, we don't get out much, especially after dark.

I was determined to wear a pair of heels on a night out with Jessica.  The few pairs I have held on to were looking tired so we shopped until I found the ones:  black Via Spiga patent leather peep toe 4 inch heels with an ankle strap.  Divine!

Well, divine for about the first 5 minutes they were on.  It was more painful than I remembered, and not quite as exhilarating as I had hoped, but I really liked the the feeling of stepping out into the world as someone other than Mama in those 4 inch heels.  

There will be more of me reentering the world.  I'm not sure it will be in 4 inch heels though.
