OKC Spring Visit

Just a few photos...

We spent time visiting, playing in the grass, and wandering the zoo...

It was a short visit with a perfect spring weather.

It made us miss family, sunshine, and bare feet.

Zoo!

We visited the Oklahoma Zoo to see all the animals that the little Central Park Zoo doesn't have room for.  We saw elephants and zebra and gorillas and rhinos.  We even got to feed the giraffes and see his blue tongue up close. 

All very cool, but Freddie's favorite thing:  the misters.

Everyone enjoyed some pool time at Aunt Mary's this weekend!

Freddie even took off his float to swim!

Hoping it won't be long now before he puts his face in the water to straighten out his dog paddle form. Proud of him for so much improvement over such a short time.

On the Road, Again

We were in Oklahoma for the weekend, visiting Charlie grandmother and Aunt Mary. Bug's a great traveller if you don't take into account the fact that the child does not sleep away from Bordeaux Street. He's got people to meet, places to go, and there is no time for sleep. Who are these kids I see sleeping in airports in their parents arms or lounged in their car seats in restaurants?

So needless to say, we are worn out...and I didn't take any pictures. Sigh. Bad mama.

But it was fun to spend some time hanging out in Oklahoma City, enjoying the cooler temperatures, sharing yummy meals, and watching football.

We are grounded until December, no flights, but we are cooking up a few road trips. Hours and hours in the car with the Bug shall be interesting!

It's me...paddling the canoe at the Natural History Museum in Norman, Oklahoma. Cute, right? ...but that's it. Our only photo from the weekend. I've got to do better.

Fun weekend for all. My next trip to OKC has got to be in the middle of the summer. Seems as though every time I'm there the temperatures don't make it out of the 40s and we inevitably have ice from the sky and stuck on runways and airplanes.

An Event

We're in Oklahoma City for a black tie event with Aunt Mary. And I haven't been very good about taking any photos yet again, but we did do this one self portrait when we got in the other night.

Charlie tied his very own bow tie....something he'd always relied on JB to do during his college fraternity formal days. Thankfully the internet is filled with step by step directions.

Oklahoma ...

....Where the Wind Comes Sweeping Down the Plains! Any mention of OKC and my dear husband breaks into song.

This weekend I experienced more than sweeping wind. We arrived just in time to be watch the roads freeze over with ice. So that meant lots of together time on Hillcrest.



We managed to stay "connected" by tapping into the neighbors wi-fi. The stairs were the hotspot.



We also had a little Christmas since we were all scattered for the holiday. GG got another way to show her OU pride.



We headed out to a local sports bar to watch our Saints in the playoffs. We donned our jerseys, drank some beer, and were the only bar patrons shouting at the televisions.

Our only other outing was to the mall, and there we did some mall walking! GG did leave us in her dust; I was happy to look into the windows of the closed stores.

We enjoyed our short visit and hope it is not another 8 months before we are all together again.
