Mardi Gras Lacrosse Tournament

The New Orleans Lacrosse Club hosts a tournament each year the weekend before Mardi Gras. And each and every year since Charlie and I have been together, the weather has been rainy, and usually cold, no matter when the tournament happens to fall. Last year I was a supportive wife and faced the damp cold once to see him play and again to see two good teams play and see how lacrosse "should look." This year my supportive wife role was limited to a load of wet, muddy laundry washed and dried each night. There's always next year.

NOLC Mardi Gras Tournament

This afternoon the New Orleans Lacrosse Club kicked off their annual Mardi Gras Tournament. After many years at City Park, the tournament has been moved to LaSalle Park.

It appears as though the Jesters will have some sunny and seventy (that's a Pudge-ism) weather for the weekend, something which they haven't seen at the tournament in several years.

The tournament has dwindled in size and will only host eight teams this year. Perhaps the mild temperatures and the rhythm of the city during Carnival will help the tournament regain strength.



NOLC lost their opening game today, but the team is enjoying "playing." The playing, of course, is enhanced by the presence of a beer truck.



Tonight will be more merriement and then back to the fields in the morning.
