We've learned over the last few years that orchids are pretty resilient. We had figured as much when we found them growing in the Andes in areas that experience extreme high and low temperatures. Ours have bounced back from freezing temperatures, but we never can seem to get them to bloom. They shoot up flower stalks, regularly, once a year, right on schedule, but something always seems to interfere with the buds opening, be it bugs, over watering, severe wind, always something.
So we are quite delighted that this stalk, with three buds, is in full bloom. Future orchids will be mounted to the fence in pots so I can bring them indoors to enjoy. But I do like the baskets Charlie made for his precious flowers. He has quite the green thumb.
