Due to some sort of human error in attempt to be organized, all of my photos prior to October 2008 have been wiped out.
I am now trying to sort through files here and there to recover a handful of photos lying around in folders.
Most importantly I will be setting aside some time this weekend to upload all photos to an online database to prevent this from happening again.
Yes, I am crying and probably won't be able to sleep tonight.

Oh shit, that is terrible Erin! Hope you locate them somehow.
Oh no Erin! Can you take them to a professional to have them recovered? They must be somewhere on your hard drive. I know an expert could find them in the long lost black hole of your hd. Oh sweetie that totally sucks.
Did you get the pictures back? I've looked and it seems like you did.
Thankfully everything on the blog gets automatically archived in Picasa, so I have those photos that are on the blog, but I am sure everything else is gone.
After transferring data from one computer to another and reformatting an external hard drive so it can act as a back up, a whole library of photos got lost.
I will be spending some time with Smugmug this weekend to get everything we still have up there in case this should ever happen again.

I have almost everything "stored" on Shutterfly. . .I can't imagine what you feel right now!!! Maybe you can have a computer expert look for it?!?!? I AM SO SORRY!!!!!!!!!
Check out www.evernote.com. A friend just told me about it and it might be a good solution for saving pictures long term. They also have an iPhone app and it is free.
